Members of the South Lyon Education Association not only work in South Lyon, but they often live and give there too! This page is dedicated to the work the members do beyond the call of duty.
School Supply Drive
South Lyon Education Association Members collected school supplies for kids that need them! On August 22, both teachers and community members stopped by the farmer's market to drop off donations. The response was overwhelming! All of the items that are collected will be distributed to all of the buildings across the school district. Many students will appreciate the supplies that will help start the year off right!
Support for Active Faith's Food Bank
For several years, Kent Lake has become a donation site for Active Faith, a local organization offering services to South Lyon's low income families. This effort was started by two of Kent Lake's teachers who saw a need that could be filled by pulling together as a school community. Each month, the school's families collect items that Active Faith has requested. Every two weeks, the items are delivered to Active Faith in time for deliveries to families in the area. The staff helps to support this effort by advertising weekly to their students' families the Active Faith item of the month. Kent Lake staff and families understand how important it is to support this community cause. The economic times have made it apparent to everyone the need to pull together to encourage and uplift one another. Active Faith has helped many of Kent Lake's families, and the staff felt this was a way to help give back.
